Well if you can belive it I made it to Thailand in one piece. When I left home it was 5pm on 12/27. I didn't sleep until I got to LA...11:30pm my time which is probably the latest I've ever stayed awake. I slept the first 6 hours on the way to Taipei, stayed up for 3 hours then slept another couple of hours. I shared a seat with mom for the flight, but had my own little bassinette to sleep in. It was pretty nice to get to stretch out for my snooze. The last leg to Bangkok was a quick 3 hours. I finally took another nap right when we landed at noon BKK time on Thursday 12/29. I took a good long 4 hour nap and then spent the afternoon exploring the condo. The first pic includes Mr. Brad who married mom and dad and is staying in KC to take care of the doggies. I'll sure miss them.
It's a lovely 80 degrees and sunny here. There was a playground with sand, a swimming pool, and even a rocking horse that was waiting for me to arrive. In the evening we went to a shopping mall to see what the locals buy and have dinner. I was nodding off early on, but made it until 9pm (not too shabby with the 13 hour time difference). I slept a solid 9 hours, woke at 6, and told mom and dad I was ready to start my day.
After breakfast we visited the condo club house before heading to my great Aunt Pom's house and to see my Khun Yai (great gma). I met a bunch of my family for the first time. My Uncle Sai was there and 2nd Cousin Jang as well. I took a nice long nap while Mom, Dad, Uncle Dave, and BobBob all got massages. We had dinner at a place called Silom Village where I saw some traditional Thai dance.
On Saturday, December 31st we headed to a beach resort area called Hua Hin to ring in the new year. Thank you Pa Pat for letting us hang out at your condo. I went there with all my "aunties" which are Grandma Ta's friends that she went to grade school with. As you can see, there are no car seat laws in Thailand so I had quite a good time jumping from the front seat to the back.
I hope everyone has a wonderful New Year and a prosperous 2012. Mom and dad are thankful to have such wonderful family and friends.
Mom was off on Tuesday, Dec 20th so I went to visit BobBob. He let me help him make cookies. After we had dinner where I offered him and mom a taste of my broccoli, but neither took the bait.
Before heading home, pony rides were in order. Does Porter show a look of fear in those eyes?
Chris Cakes visited my school on Thursday morning so Dido joined us for a pancake breakfast.
I finished off the evening with a rousing stare-off with Porter. She beat me.
On Christmas Eve, I patiently awaited Santa's arrival. I have forgiven him since the little spat I had while sitting on his knee. Sadly though, it was only BobBob and Dard.
Before heading to church, Dido and Donna let me open their gift. A mini grill! Now I can eat hamburgers for dinner every night. A late dinner finished the evening.
While I was asleep, dad made cinnamon rolls for Santa and brunch the next morning.
The fruits of his labor...
For breakfast I had toast and egg and PRESENTS! I scored big this year with a new cell phone, books, clothes, legos, and various other wonderful toys. Mimi and Max stopped by for brunch and came with armloads of more gifts.
This box was practically bigger than me and inside was my very own mini shopping cart! I really needed that to buy meat for my new mini grill.
Two guesses what this gift was...
Most of the day was spent in my pajamas and I did a lot of lounging around. Here I am laying on the kitchen rug attempting to color my cell phone yellow.
Here's some clips of me on Christmas morning:
After my nap we hit up the playground since it was 50 degrees on Christmas Day. Kind of crazy, but I'm not going to question it. We rounded out the evening with a drive to see Christmas lights and a house who's entire front and entryway were dedicated to creepy moving window displays. The pictures don't do it justice. This house was crazy and I will question that. Who does this? And more concerning...how do they pay their electric bill?
After that mess I had to wind down with a warm bath and tried out my new tub crayons that Mimi got me. I clean up pretty nicely if I do say so myself.
On Monday morning we got up early and met the Webers for breakfast. Mrs. Jackie is expecting a baby of her own in May. Congrats!
I spent the rest of the morning hanging out with Mimi and test driving some of my new toys. The shopping cart really helps me get quickly from the living room to the kitchen with all my essential books and dolls. We did Christmas (albeit a day late) with the Duncan's that night. I scored some more awesome gifts including a my-size kitchen! I can't wait for dad to take care of "some assembly required". Something tells me I won't see it out of the box until after vacation.
Before leaving, Pierce tried to kiss me goodbye. Or maybe it was the other way around. It's totally okay for first cousins to kiss right?
On that note, I'll be headed to Thailand tomorrow afternoon. My bags are packed and I hope everyone has a Happy New Year!
